Hi there,

I know it has been a long time since my last post but a lot has happened since September.  We now live in Virginia in the same area where we grew up.  Our home coming has been  so wonderful.  After 12 years away from family on a day to day basis we now can go to soccer games, babysit for the grandkids and spend time with our special loved ones, grown children and our siblings as well as my parents.  The holidays were wonderful!  It is so good to be home.

Happy New Year to each of you!  May this year bring lots of special moments.

Mixed Media Entry

About a month ago I joined a facebook group to learn about Mixed Media Art.  The group is 'Limor1278 Mixed Media Art Group'.  Each month there is a challenge contest.  This month's contest is sponsored by Faber Castell Design Memory Craft.  The challenge is to create a tag or journal page with the theme SUNSETS/SKYES - Anything to do with a sunset or a sky and use at least one Faber Castell Design Memory Craft product.  So my choice of product was Gelatos-Mix and Match since I didn't own any.  I enabled myself LOL!
Since I'm on the East coast I see sunrises over the water so that is what I created.  All of the blues and the yellows of the Gelatos were used as well as some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and a few sparkles with Stickles.  This is the second page of my new Art Journal and I really enjoyed getting my hands dirty today.  The page has been in my head for several days so it turned out almost like my mental picture.  Here is the photo:
You can visit the Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/405073446194833/ or Limor's blog at http://chicscrapbookdesigns.blogspot.ca/
Thanks for joining me today and wish me luck.

Hi there,

This summer has been an artistic exploration for me.  I have studied so many things with the help of the blogging, Youtube and Ustream communities.  I wish there were words to say the Thank You that I feel in my heart.  So to continue the art saga stage I have started an Art Journal of Mixed Media.  Just getting through the first page has taught me so much, like .....

1. Do Not stare at that white piece of paper very long, it will pull you in and then you are trapped.  Do anything to put some color or texture on there and let yourself go.

2.  Use your product, there is more where that came from.  I was a little light on product for my title page but I'm learning right?

3.  Just go with the flow.  I started this page with something in mind and that is not what I ended up with.  Matter of fact, it is totally different. I mean not even close LOL.

4.  I'm also going to have to learn when to stop adding, this is addictive you know...

Am I satisfied with my Title Page, no ...  Could I have done better, probably ...  Is this me, of course it is I created it ...  So what am I going to do next?   Turn the page and add something quick ........

Here is a couple of photos of the page:

Thanks for visiting with me today.  Everyone have a great weekend.

Core Cards Creative Frenzy

Hi there,

Today is a showcase for Core'dinations ColorCore Cardstock.  This blog post is an entry into the Card Makers Design Team call.  Wish me luck ...

First up is a masculine card using the Vintage Collection.  The card is completely made from a 12 x 12 piece with about 3 x 12 left.

This card stock has a very noticeable texture on one side.  That gives a good monochrome look.  Here is a closeup of the diamond pattern done as a deboss with sanding.

Since I used the smoother side for the card base this left the inside as textured.  To make it easier to write a message, the inside was also decorated.

And on to the next which is a more feminine card.

The main image is embossed with a stitch frame to make it pop.  This is on a normal piece of white card stock using just a little pattern paper.  The word was cut with my Slice using the Core'dinations card stock also.  Here is a close up of the image.
Used sand paper to further distress the embossed image and Distress markers to color along the stems and add a little more dimension around the blooms.

The third entry is a child's card.  My grandson will be two next month so that is what inspired this card.  Doesn't it look rough and tumble?
Hexagons are a big thing these days so they were cut from the Core'dinations card stock.  Do you like to use ink around your cards?  Well you can get the opposite look with this card stock.  The hexagons were cut with a punch and then sanded on the edges.  The number 2 was cut with my Slice and then run through the corrugator.  Neat look, oh and then of course for a 2 year old, torn paper on the edges.  What could be more little boy?

Thanks to Core'dinations for this opportunity.
Have a great day!

Stationary Box

Hi - I belong to a great philanthropic organization Epsilon Sigma Alpha.  I made this stationary box for our outgoing State President and entered it in the Association of the Arts at our State Convention in May.  Well, it won the Mixed Media section of the contest! Enjoy the slide show!

Hi there, have a quick post to share a birthday card for my granddaughter.  Can't believe she is going to be 13.  I think I turned into a thirteen year old while I was doing this.  Doodling - me?

Yep!  Have a good evening.
